Building a website is a massive job for one who knows so little about how websites are designed. Creating an attractive website requires a good deal of behind-the-scenes effort. Even with the oh-so-helpful DIY website-building companies, there is still so much to think about: aesthetics; functionality; primary purpose; short-term and long-term goals; balancing "wants" with technical obstacles. All of this and more guided me in creating a new website for Birchtree Studio, and forced me to dig deep to envision what this business could be. The process brought CLARITY.

Clarity is a lovely thing, don’t you agree?

With the launch of the new Birchtree Studio website comes clarity in how I move this business forward. Over the past 25+ years I have explored a variety of artistic paths, but I knew all along what I wanted to be doing with my skills:

- Educating about the natural world through informational illustrations;

- Bringing a little joy and wonder through my paintings;

- Assisting folks in creating their own piece of nature art and connecting with the natural world around them;

- Developing nature-based designs representing an organization, event or business identity; and,

- Experiential nature writing.

Even though these ideas were swirling in my mind all along, it wasn't until now that my path experienced a convergence of many things to clearly articulate to myself and the universe these intentions.

That said, here I go!

This, the inaugeral post on my new blog, is the first of many essays to come. Tune in. Come back and read. I hope to inspire. Or, perhaps provide a few minutes of indulgence in something other than politics and conflict; something to move the mind in a different direction, something to remind us the world is really a beautiful place.
