Watercolor 8x10” Framed

The Squamscott River is home to a plethora of bird species in the warm season, Great Blue Herons among the largest. The river feeds them. Mostly Alewfie, American Eel, some Blue-back Herring and American Shad feed the herons. Of course, frogs and snakes are on the menu, too. I completed a short series of quick watercolor sketches of herons on the Squamscott displaying various behaviors. I never tire of observing and sketching this animal. Turns out, if you are paying attention, the Squamscott River, where it meets the Exeter River in downtown Exeter, is a spectacularly diverse area for wildlife sightings of all sorts!
