Potter Marsh January

Potter Marsh January

$125.00

This painting accompanied the first issue of my Alaska newsletter. It kicked off a year-long project to explore the landscape and wild residents of Alaska through my art journal.

It was a very gray day, very little light filtering through low clouds. Something about the light here, the angle at which the sun hangs at any time of year, perhaps, that makes painting so very special.

Gray, filtered light has a way of lighting up certain colors, like the orange on an aspen, or the ochre on marsh grasses. Add to that soft, subtle greens leftover from summer vibrancy. Quiet. Peaceful.
