What a cool way to enjoy my art!

The watercolor image is from a sketchbook page I made when we lived in Juneau, AK. The hiking boots belong to my husband.

My first experience with Alaska was living in Juneau for a few months in 2019. Everything was so new to me! One of the habitats that deeply captured my curiosity is the muskeg ecosystem, ancient wetlands dominated by peat mosses.

On a typical cloudy and wet day, I busied myself with drawing and writing about what I observed in a muskeg on Douglas Island.

While I was exploring the muskeg, my husband was hiking a 15-mile trail to meet me, thus, the inclusion of his boots!
