Do you struggle to see the temperature in colors? Did you know there are warm and cool versions of each primary color? Knowing the color wheel is only part of the skill. Let’s break this down into pieces and build back up what you think you know about basic color temperature.
It’s not a very difficult skill but it IS one of those concepts that is easier to grasp if taken in small bites. We’ll begin with a few basic exercises with your watercolor pigments building a traditional color wheel then a slightly more informative color wheel. After that we will work from a few photos to paint landscapes using cool hues then warm hues and compare the differences. Having this understanding opens up new possibilities with your painting! You’ll feel more confident with new knowledge guiding your pigment mixing decisions after this workshop.
Supplies include your watercolors and brushes, good watercolor paper in sheets, a pad or a block. Size can be your preference but not too small nor too large. Two water containers, paper towels or cotton rags round out the list. Please contact me directly with any questions or for a list of the specific tools I work with.
