One of the best ways to hone your quick observation skills is to paint directly on the paper…no drawing!
I not only practice this skill, I create finished works using this technique. It can be applied to both flora and fauna of all shapes and sizes. It allows for so much freedom of expression! If practiced intently it really does improve the speed of one’s observation skills.
So, if you want to improve quick observation or just take a step towards a freer method of working with your paints join in!
Supplies include: your watercolors and brushes, good watercolor paper in sheets, a pad or a block of a size you are comfortable working with. Size can be your preference but not too small nor too large. Two water containers, paper towels or cotton rags round out the list. Please contact me directly with questions or for a list of the specific tools I work with.
