Winter Maples
Winter Maples
Watercolor 11x12” Framed
Winter Maples is a portrait of sugar maples at one of my long-time teaching locations, Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield, MA. This piece hung in the same room as an Andy Warhol piece at a show in Gloucester, MA during an Audubon Winter Bird Festival one February, which celebrated everything birds, including an amazing show curated and hosted by Trident Gallery. (now called Matthew Swift Gallery). Of course, this piece doesn’t have a single bird in it but the gallery owner, Matthew Swift, chose it and three additional pieces to participate in the show. He even purchased one of the four pieces! You can imagine my surprise at the opening reception to see my art displayed in the same room as an Andy Warhol and a Louis Agassiz Fuertes painting!! I was unprepared, though, as I have no video or photos of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
