Taft-Nicholson Environmental Humanities Center Art Residency
One of the smallest animals I encountered at the center, the Yellow-pine Chipmunk was aplenty, industrious, and super fun to observe.
As soon as several started making appearances around the cabin and studio, I knew it was going to become a subject of my art.
The approach I took is a little different from the other works in this collection. I wanted to make it more like a field study, less like a portrait painting. I made a few sketches in the field and took a bunch of photos and videos to work from.
The result is a compilation of active poses, a few sketched in graphite and a few sketched with watercolor.
