Straight from my sketchbook, this was a quick sketch I did while visiting an area with salt flats in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Chaplin Lake was designated as a Western Hemispheric Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) Site of Hemispheric Importance in combination with the adjacent Old Wives and Reed Lakes (also both saline lakes).

In 2024 I stopped there on my way from Alaska to New England to observe and sketch the birds that this unique habitat supports. Truly an amazing experience!
