Red Tree is another example of “direct painting”, a technique where no drawing is established; pigment and water on paper is all that is used to create an image. This tree is on the grounds of Phillips Exeter Academy. Young and strong, it represented to me the beautiful lives of young high school students setting course for their own independent lives.
