I love this piece for its simplicity! This is exactly how you see gulls on a beach sometimes. I wonder: What is it like to be that bird, sitting there facing the wind?. What are they thinking? The empty space in the composition is by design; it allows the viewer to fill in with a place they may have seen gulls doing exactly this…resting, conserving energy, self-preservation from heat or cold.
