Introduction to Nature Journaling

  • Third Branch Flower and Cloud Mountain Living Arts and Aikido 111 Pincus Road Roxbury, VT, 05669 United States (map)

Field sketching is a wonderful tool for capturing the environment that you inhabit, travel through, and appreciate. Field sketching is different than creating finished drawings; your goal is to capture quick flashes of the things around you. Many of your sketches may end up very unfinished. Think of each page in your journal or sketchbook as a "study" of some object or place that you want to remember. Birds, mammals, trees, flowers, waterscapes - even buildings - will provide interesting and fun challenges for us as we use graphite and/or pen to develop our pages.

Tap into your sense of curiosity. Join us to engage with and wonder about our beautiful natural world. Our setting is Cloud Farm Living Arts & Aikido and Third Branch Flower, a beautiful, family-owned and operated flower farm, Aikido school and supporter of the arts in Roxbury, VT.

Bring with your favorite sketchpad (newsprint pads not recommended), your favorite drawing pencils and/or pen, a white rubber eraser and a kneaded eraser. If you have any questions about materials feel free to contact me directly.
